Dr. Govind Nanadkumar is a well-known surgical gastroenterologist who is currently associated with Manipal Hospitals, Yeshwanthpur Bangalore, as a Consultant in Robotic Surgical Gastroenterology and GI Onco Surgery. He finished medical school at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. He then continued his surgical training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre, Weill Cornell Medical College, and New York Hospital. He pursued his American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery and an advanced colorectal fellowship from Washington University in St. Louis after earning his American Board of Surgery.
At Weill Cornell Medical College, he completed a specialised program in the liver as well as hepatopancreatic biliary surgery under the supervision of Drs. Daniel Cherqui, Michelassi, and Lieberman. He continued to work as a faculty member at Cornell after that and still does. To develop a centre of expertise for digestive illnesses, he relocated to Bangalore in 2015. His areas of interest in cutting-edge GI surgery include robotics, laparoscopy, colon and dorsal surgery, liver, and HPB surgery. He is particularly interested in the treatment of individuals with inflammatory bowel illness as well as treatment for GI and liver cancers. Dr. Govind Nanadkumar has been part of various achievements and awards in his career. He served as courtesy staff for Weill Cornell Medical College in New York. He has also been a part of the Guest Faculty for AIMS Rishikesh. He was recognized as one of the top health professionals in the world in 2013. He received the 2009 Alpha Omega Alpha Resident Teaching Award and the Hassan Nama Chief Resident Teaching Award. He has also contributed to the Dean’s List and Golden Key National Honour Society, one Cornell Chapter, and the University of Michigan. Various languages supported and spoken by him in his career include English, Hindi, Tamil, and Kannada. He has been a part of various Indian societies such as ASI, IASO, and ACRSI. Other societies in which he took part and contributed include the International Heapto-PancreatoBiliary, Association (IHPBA), Society of Surgeons of the Alimentary (SSAT), Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), and Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO).
He also has a fellowship in Laparoscopic surgery in addition to SILS, Surgical oncology, and HIPEC treatment, upper gastrointestinal surgery is used to treat liver, oesophagus, and stomach disorders. In contrast, colorectal surgery is used to treat disorders of the intestines, rectum, and anal canal. Gastrointestinal surgery techniques include robotic surgery and HIPEC (Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy) cure of abdominal malignancies. He was a major part of a prospective trial conducted to assess the clinical efficacy of innovative operational energy equipment in laparoscopy colon surgery.
